Therapeutic Massage
Massage therapy has long been used by athletes to aid recovery from muscle strain and overuse. Non-athletes can enjoy the same benefits of professional bodywork. The hands-on manipulation of muscles, tendons and ligaments helps clenched muscles let go, and most people leave a session feeling looser and calmer than when they arrived.
People commonly tell us that regular massage helps them:
- Ease muscular tension and stiffness
- Move more comfortably and feel more flexible
- Wind down from a demanding week
- Sleep more easily
A session is also simply an hour set aside for yourself, which for many people is reason enough.
Reflexology Massage
Reflexology is a form of massage that focuses on the feet and is based on the principles of acupuncture and acupressure. Reflexology maps out the entire body on the bottom of the feet, where different parts of the foot correspond to different organs or parts of the body. The reflexologist uses thumb pressure to stimulate these areas, with a focus on problem spots or symptomatic areas. The entire foot is massaged as well as the hands.
Most people find reflexology deeply relaxing. As with all our work, it is a complementary therapy rather than a substitute for medical care.
